Date: Thursday, 3 June 2010: Main Conference
Time: 18:00-19:00
Welcome to Open Space at XP2010! Open Space’s self-directed learning environment will help you integrate and extend the information and experiences you’ve gained during the rest of XP2010. Open Space provides an opportunity to meet in self-organizing groups to share your latest ideas, challenges, questions, hopes, experiences and experiments. The Open Space format gives just enough structure to foster collaboration and take direction from those who choose to participate. Make this conference your own. Commit to attending the opening on Thursday evening, offer your ideas about important topics to explore, and attend sessions Thursday night and/or Friday.
The opening session:
During the opening session, your hosts will explain the Four Principles of and One Law of Open Space. If you have questions, volunteers and hosts will offer answers.
The Four Principles:
• The right people show up
• It starts when it starts
• It ends when it ends
• People in context determine outcomes (Whatever happens is the only thing that could have.)

The Law of Personal Mobility
If you find yourself sitting where you can't learn or contribute, move yourself to a place where you can.
We ask that everyone attending any sessions at Open Space XP2010 show up for the opening. It's important. You'll listen to the presentations and take note of those you want to attend. As you listen, you may be inspired to present a session yourself. There are no deadlines or time limits: simply step up and describe your idea for a session.
Your commitment to arriving at the beginning on Thursday and staying until the end on Friday will ensure we build on conversation after conversation.
